At the moment, I'm staring down a pile of rejection letters. The past year this said pile has played with my head mentally.
I wonder, are there others that feel the same way? Has rejection made you question your ability to achieve your dream? I dunno about you but I am sick of letting previous rejection play with my head.
I say, we wipe the slate clean. If we, as dreamers, want to take this dream all the way then we are gonna have to prepare for a nasty slug-out fight.
And I am not talking about the Oscar winning movie, The Fighter (though who doesn't heart Mark Wahlberg or Christian Bale?)
The time has come to allow our wounds to heal. I don't know about you but I wanna wrap my hands and get swinging. Forget rejection- it means nothing. Let's get to work, my friends.
PS- I had the movie, The Fighter on the brain because my mom just met Mark Wahlberg. No joke, while at an airport traveling to Louisiana. Where was I? The restroom.
Seriously, I am fluffing my wig and I get this text, "Guess who smiled and winked at me-Mark Wahlberg! He's so cute and unassuming. I didn't realize I was staring until he winked at me."
Yep, that's what I call BadKarma- being within 500 feet of a major celebrity and I'm off in la-la land.

....straightening your wig. Well, you wouldn't want to repeat the same scene in front of the cute guy at the gym in front of Mark Wahlburg. Besides, he's married with kids.
This reminds me of Thomas Edison saying, 'I haven't failed 1000 times, I've simply found 1000 ways not to make a light bulb.'
or something to that effect. It's ground you don't have to cover again. That's progress.
Girl, you are SO making progress.
With or without Mr. Wahlberg.
Although . . . dang.
Yeah, dang is right! Well, at least I can now consider myself 3 degrees of separation from Mark Wahlberg :)
And you should be proud of those rejection letters. No, really. You should. At least you're to a point where you can send queries out (unlike me). Stephen King used to tack his early rejection letters in a place of honor on his bulletin board. And we all know how it worked out for him.
First, thank you for stopping by Writing with Debra and your heartfelt comment. It means so much.
Your post today I really needed. I've felt like this many times.Always questioning my ability.
I know I can write and I am never going to give up. Great post!
Ha ha, that's too funny. Marky-mark. :)
And I don't think there are very many (if any) published authors out there that don't have a big (or in my case a GINORMOUS - and I'm not even published yet) pile of rejections. Learn what you need to from them then forget them and keep going. You can do it!
I can totally feel the positive vibes radiating from my laptop via this post and its comments :)
Hang in there. Maybe someday we can compare our rejection piles while eating copious amounts of Ben and Jerry's directly from the carton.
Ah! We love us our Ben and Jerry's. Have you got something in the works, Donna? Will we be cheering you on soon in a search for an agent or publisher?
Russ - I've gotta tell you, I was very impressed to see that pile. I had no idea you'd done so much querying. That's awesome! Keep it up. That's how you make it.
Shannon Hale has laminated all of her rejection letters, and when she speaks at conferences, she whips the whole lot out and rolls it down the main aisle. She has 400+.
Rejection letters seem to be par for the course - you've developed the right attitude! You just have to keep putting yourself out there and be proud of what you've accomplished! Can't believe you missed Mark Wahlberg - lucky mom! Thanks for stopping by and for your very sweet comments!
Thanks for reminding us all to move forward. I have enjoyed the read. No rejection letters- still too afraid to venture out. In due time though. I will remember that pic of all those letters and know that I am not alone. Thanks again for sharing.
Always Always keep your head up! I know how dangerous rejection can be. I have been there alot at times but sometimes rejection actually brings something better. Rejection from one guy brought me my wonderful fiancee. So now sometimes I welcome rejection with open arms, not always but sometimes. Thank you for being an avid follower of my blog. I meant to comment sooner. I love your blog as well and who does not love Mark Wahlberg!
Also writing is not easy. I keep trying to find time for my writing besides my blog and time is not kind to me! keep on persevering!
Mmmmm....Marky mark.....yummy....I would be so kicking myself in the butt! Hang in there. Believe in yourself and your dream. Keep fighting, keep persevering, keep working. You will achieve it. See it and you will achieve it.
